Hello, welcome to place and a fresh approach to PR.

We are not a consumer agency, or a corporate one. We don’t pigeon hole ourselves, or our clients.

At place we make it our business to understand our clients’ businesses and their customers. We use precision communication tactics to reach and influence target audiences and above all we seek to positively impact the bottom line.

We are not about PR just for the sake of it – but PR with a real sense of place and value.

Who’s who at place?

Ben Ruse and Kate Fisher founded place in 2010, bringing together over 20 years of PR expertise, working for corporate and consumer clients and work in both the public and private sectors.

Ben Ruse

An emigrant to Cape Town, I lectured Media Studies to infectiously enthusiastic undergrad’s at UCT and became hooked. 15 years later, I can look back fondly at the Millennium Commission, the Press Association, Ogilvy PR Worldwide, Freud Communications, Blue Rubicon and London Communications Agency.

After PR-ing almost everything from Nike to More Th>n, Birmingham to Ribena, I currently direct the communications function for High Speed 1 – equally happy immersed in innovative proactive campaigns to attract more people to St Pancras International or tackling issues (not) breaking in the (inter)national media.

Ben’s favourite place: The Emirates. Block 134, row 28, seat 1200. We may not always be first but we’ll always be the best.

Kate Fisher

My career started in government communications, advising the former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Housing Minister Yvette Cooper on regeneration and housing issues.

Five years ago I moved into the private sector and have worked at leading PR agencies, Fishburn Hedges and London Communications Agency, on a range of clients including BBC TV Licensing, King’s Cross Central and St Pancras International. Increasingly specialising in media relations, my work over recent years has seen me promote art installations and music gigs, launch new restaurants, shops and hotels, raise the profile of one of Europe’s most exciting regeneration opportunity and highlight which town in the UK has the most BBC licence fee evaders!

My current favourite place: Verulamium Park in St Albans. Finally, I have found the perfect place for my morning run. It has the potential to be inspiring enough for me not to give up on my new year resolution! Fingers crossed……
